Welcome to the celebrations of the 12th International Day of Yoga celebrations in Libreville!
This is also the 2nd edition of the celebrations in Libreville City. Last year we had a most pleasant experience during the International Yoga Day celebrations at La bais de rois.
This year, due to the kind cooperation and support of Ecole Ruban Vert and the special initiative of Mr. Andrew Eagen, Head of School, we have been able to conduct this Yoga Day in this large and impressive or rather iconic location. Where we hope to imbibe Yoga in minds both young and old.
As we all know, Yoga nurtures harmony between body mind and spirit connecting us to nature.
June 21st has been recognized as International Day of Yoga in 2014 under the initiative of Hon’ble Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi. More than 177 countries supported this initiative. The theme of International Day of Yoga 2026 is "Yoga for Healthy Ageing". This theme addresses one of the most important challenges and opportunities of the present century.
In the words of Hon’ble Union Minister, Sh. Prataprao Jadhav, “people are living longer than ever before. The real challenge, however, is to ensure that these added years are healthy, active, independent and meaningful. Yoga offers a time-tested and holistic pathway towards healthy ageing by strengthening physical health, promoting mental well-being and enhancing overall quality of life,".
So all of us especially those who consider themselves ageing should take advantage of today’s special session on Yoga led by talented Yoga Instructor Ms. Aline to learn the miraculous path of yoga to lead healthier and more fulfilling lives.
Thank you, I am sure you will enjoy the session
